Diabetes Education

Diabetes in the U.S.

One in three adults in the United States has Prediabetes and ninety percent don’t know they have it (1).

Prediabetes can develop into Type 2 Diabetes within five years without intervention.

Individuals with Diabetes incur more than twice the medical care costs than individuals without the disease.

Our Approach

Our hybrid course with weekly support and mentoring sessions is built on evidence based approaches to prevent type 2 diabetes. This 20 week program sets up participants to live a healthier, happier life. Participants go through a virtual course module each week, then come to their support and mentoring session where they can share ideas to apply what they have learned with their peers, and get their questions answered by a Certified Health Education Specialist. Support and mentoring sessions can be virtual or in person, making this a good fit regardless of location.

Let's work together!

Diabetes can be further complicated by comorbidities; other conditions that occur in conjunction with Diabetes. Common comorbidities include hypertension (high blood pressure), dyslipidemia (abnormal blood lipid profile), non-alcohol related fatty liver disease, cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, and obesity (3).

People with Diabetes are also at an increased risk for mental health disease such as depression. Overall, in the United States, individuals diagnosed with Diabetes are about twice as likely to suffer from depression (4). Dealing with mental health challenges increases the burden of effectively managing Diabetes, leading to increased complications and costs associated with the disease (7).
